Materials:
Lesson objective(s):
Students can make inferences about the Declaration of Independence from a video.
Proof: We can prove we met our objective by participating in a discussion and completing a
ticket out.
Explore: Show students the video below

Explain:
Ask students to explain who they think the actors are and what the song is about?
Why were they upset?
Why did they write the Declaration of Idependence?
What did they say they wanted?
Teacher Notes:
May have to go back and re-watch parts of all of the video as needed to explain if they do not catch it the first time. I make a big point to explain that the Declaration is a break-up letter or like a relationship status change on Facebook. They want England to know WHY they are dumping them.
Evaluation of student learning:
Students can answer the questions on the ticket out–use questions from explain portion above.
